The weather is looking promising for the long Memorial Day weekend. Hope to see some of you out during the 3 days. Nittany and I will be hitting the scene in the evening because of baseball commitments. Have a wonderful weekend.

Wonderful Days

The late afternoon and evening weather have made the park perfect for the dogs and humans. Even the rain has not dampened the fun. The new puppies are growing. Owen and Duncan are both getting very big. Our park human baby, Charlotte Elizabeth, is thriving and is so beautiful. Hopefully some of our warm weather friends will return to the park soon.

WATER!!

Great News! Lower Allen turned on the water earlier this week.

One of our evening regulars has put up a Lost and Found box in the large park next to the gate. Please feel free to use it for found tags, keys, etc. Over the recent months
items have been found in the park. Now we have a place to put found items. Thank you!

If you loose something please check our new box.

Wonderful Weather

The past days at the park have been wonderful, very warm and sunny. All conditions have been great. Our only negative has been lack of water. LA has not turned on the water at the park so please remember to bring water. The dogs really have been thirsty. Several of us are working to get some new water dishes for the park. Some of the old ones are in terrible shape. Nittany donated one over the weekend.

There have been many empty plastic containers left at the park. Please try to remember to take yours with you or to dispose of it when you leave.

Also, (a gentle reminder) please remember to clean-up your dog's waste. If we all do our part it will help keep our wonderful park clean.

It has been great meeting all the new faces at the park, especially all of the new puppies.

On Vacation (Saturday)

Nittany and his mom are in Ocean City, MD. enjoying the ocean and beach. Nittany was very interested in all (12) Amish buggies we passed coming down here. He kept looking at me as if to say, "do you see those big dogs hauling those wagons?" His first look at the ocean was from a distance on the beach. He did not venture into the water.
The lobby attendants and clerks all know his name and introduce him to people as we get on and off the elevator.
We visited a very sad, small dog park but Nittany loved making new friends, He met another Labradoodle, several Labs, a Golden, a Pug, and several other new friends. Thankfully, he was very "ball" polite. This small park was behind several tennis courts, so there were many discarded balls. We will go back tomorrow and maybe venture up North a little ways where we hear there is another dog friendly park. If the wind dies down we will venture back on the beach and the boardwalk.

We miss all our friends at LA and are very thankful for the park we have at home.

Damp and Cold

The park was very dreary late yesterday afternoon. Only a few dogs and their owners were there. The forecast for today looks much better. Hope to see more friends at the park today.

It appears that the township has made an effort to put buffers on the sharp bolts on the gate between the big and little parks. Hopefully this will help. There have been several injuries to dogs running too close to the gate. One required stitches.

Romping in the Great Spring Weather

Molly, Curtis, and Nittany with many other friends had a great weekend. Here is a short video of the three in a "free for all" late Friday afternoon. This was a totally uncombative game. This group has played together since they were puppies. They have a lot of puppy left in them. Thank you Jen for the video tken with the i-phone.
The video may take a minute to load.

B.J.- A New Face at the Park

B.J. is a new comer to the park. His owner, Kim rescued him and is working very hard on socializing him and she has a great start with his training. B.J. is a very energetic sweet dog. Hopefully, you will get a chance to meet him.

Yesterday was beautiful at the park. Some dogs and owners stayed until almost dark (7:30.) The next couple of days appear to be very promising. Even the weekend is looking pretty good.

Wonderful Weather

It was gorgeous on Tuesday afternoon and evening at the park. Many dogs, new and old were out. From the weather forecast through Saturday, things appear only to get better. The park was dry except for under the picnic table. Of course, many dogs went under to check it out. Sadly, several unneutered dogs came to enjoy the park. One was particularly troublesome. He gave some of the other dogs a very hard time. Hopefully, people will start reading and following the park rules. One or two problem dogs can ruin the park experience for others. Hope to see you at the park soon.

Better Times Coming:-)

Sunday evening and Monday late afternoon were dreary and damp but there was very little mud. The tan bark has done wonders for the ground conditions. Lower Allen Township did a huge favor for all of us when they delivered the tan bark before the big snows. The weather forecast looks wonderful for the remainder of the week. Hope to see you soon at the park.

Still no word on Mason's human baby sister, Charlotte.

I added a gadget to the side of this blog. It connects to a dog newspaper and displays pictures daily on the blog. Let me know what you think. I can remove it if you find it distracting.

WET! WET! WET!

What can I say. Nittany has been miserable all day. He keeps going to the door and crying. Let's hope this passes soon and we can all come back to the park.

Great Weather

We have had a great bunch of days at the park. Many dogs have been out enjoying the park. Most of the dogs had a great time and played nicely together. A few scraps were reported. Hopefully as Spring arrives the weather will continue to be great. Remember we get an hour more of daylight this weekend.

Wonderful Weather

The weather was wonderful this weekend and conditions were great. It was a joy to see so many of the regulars back and to welcome all the newcomers. Lower Allen really takes good care of us. The tan bark has made a huge difference in what we might have encountered after the snow melt. The mud at the gate was cleaned out and the entrance is in good condition. Now we just need to wait for the water to be turned back on (hopefully soon.) Our lawn chairs seem to survived the cold and are back in good use. These are such a great addition for the humans at the park. Darkness is falling much later and after this coming weekend we will gain an extra hour. Look forward to seeing all of you soon.

Mason's human baby sister has yet to arrive but all signs say she may be here soon.

Saturday and Sunday (2/27-2/28)

Conditions were very good but it was a little nippy. Sunday afternoon had some pretty active short periods of snow but otherwise the weather was good. It was great to see so many of the regulars out and lots of cute new faces. Hopefully we will have a good week.

Cold and Windy 2/25/10

Conditions were great for the dogs but somewhat bitter cold for the humans. The snow was well packed and there was little mud at the entrance. Daylight was around until almost 6:00P.M. Next week March begins and spring is coming!

Park Conditions 2/24/10

Conditions were very good on Wednesday. The snow was packed down and a little wet. The entrance around the gate was pretty muddy but once you got in the park things were good. There was a good number of dogs present from 2:30-5:00. Sunset is getting later. Hopefully, this coming storm will not make conditions worse. Looking forward to Spring and warmer dry weather and the return of more dogs.

Saturday Feb.20, 2010

The park was beautiful. There is still lots of snow but it is very packed down in the middle. The entrance to the big dog park was a little muddy. Lots of dogs were out and the temperature was pleasant. We had daylight until almost six. Hope to see more people out this week.

Snow at the Park 2/18/2010

These past weeks have been very hard for many of us. We have had problems just just getting out of the house let alone to the park. Over the past several days more friends have been venturing out to the park. Conditions are improving and the days are getting longer. Hope to see more of you soon.

In Memory of a Lost Pet

One of our L. A. dog park friends wanted to share this poem with us. She recieved from a friend when she lost a dear dog. Be ready to cry.

WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME

Author Unknown

When tomorrow starts without me,
And I'm not there to see;
The sun will rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me.

I wish so much you wouldn't cry
The way you did today,
Remembering how I'd lay my head
In your lap that special way.
I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too.

But when tomorrow starts without me.
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name
And petted me with her hand.
She said my place was ready,
In Heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behindAll those I dearly love.

But, as I turned to heel away,
A tear fell from my eye,
For all my life I never thought
That I would have to die.
I had so much to live for,
So many sits and downs to do,
It seemed almost impossible,
That I was leaving you.

I thought about our lives together,
I know you must be sad,
I thought of all the love we shared,
And all the fun we had.

Remember how I'd nudge your hand,
And poke you with my nose?
The frisbee I would gladly chase,
The bad guy, I'd "bark and hold".

If I could relive yesterday,
Just even for awhile,
I'd wag my tail and kiss you,
Just so I could see you smile.

But, then I fully realized,
That this could never be;
For emptiness and memories
Will take the place of me.
And when I thought of treats and toys,
I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you and when I did,
My dog-heart filled with sorrow.

Tanbark 2/1/10

It appears a load of tanbark was delivered today at the park. I think this is good news with snow and rain in the forecast. The park was cold this afternoon but not bitter. Tomorrow looks like another good day. We had light today until 5:40. Our days are getting longer:-)

Park 1/27/10 Cold

The park conditions were very good Thursday with very little mud but it was COLD. There was a small number of friends out late Thursday afternoon. The dogs seemed to be fine with the cold but many of the owners found the wind and cold uncomfortable. Hopefully the wind will let up for the weekend. Nittany is looking forward to seeing some of his friends.

Saturday in the Park (1/23/10)

"Not the 4th of July!" The park had a great crowd but the mud was awful. Tina took a spill. I hope all is well.

Mud, Mud, Mud! 1/21/10

The park has been muddy this week. We have seen it much worse but bring a towel. Hopefully, things will dry out over the weekend.

Conditions at the Park

We have not been to the park since Saturday. Hopefully, we will go this afternoon. The past three days have been tough. Monday we did go swimming (see pictures) at the Doggie Spa in Dillsburg. Nittany in true form just went wading and ball chasing, no actual swimming. We will report back on conditions later today.

Great Poem

BEFORE I WAS A DOG MOM
Before I was a Dog Mom: I made and ate hot meals unmolested. I had unstained, unfurred clothes. I had quiet conversations on the phone, even if the doorbell rang.
Before I was a Dog Mom: I slept as late as I wanted And never worried about how late I got to bed or if I could get into my bed. Before I was a Dog Mom: I cleaned my house every day. I never tripped over toys, stuffies, chewies Or invited the neighbor's dog over to play.
Before I was a Dog Mom: I didn't worry if my plants, cleansers, plastic bags, toilet paper, soap or deodorant were poisonous or dangerous. Before I was a Dog Mom: I had never been peed on Pooped on Drooled on Chewed on Or pinched by puppy teeth.
Before I was a Dog Mom: I had complete control of My thoughts, My body and mind. I slept all night without sharing the covers or pillow. Before I was a Dog Mom: I never looked into big, soulful eyes and cried. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop a hurt. I never knew something so furry and four-legged could affect my heart so deeply.
Before I was a Dog Mom: I had never held a sleeping puppy just because I couldn't put it down. I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was well.. I didn't know how warm it feels inside to feed a hungry puppy. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important.
Before I was a Dog Mom: I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being A Dog Mom

Saturday 1/16/10

The park was beginning to get very messy. You can see by Nittany's picture conditions were wet.

That is not a dead turtle next to him rather it is a "dead ball."

This is a face only a mom can love:-)

Friday, January 15th, 2010

The park has been wonderful every late afternoon this week. Yesterday the temperature was almost 50. The mud situation was minimal and lots of dogs came out to enjoy the fun. King, Bear, Kodah, Duke, Molly, Bella, Mason, Nittany, Miley, Duece,Hunter, Abby, Buddy, Lemoyne, Gracie, Charlie, Roady, Bailey, were some of the many dogs out enjoying the great weather. I apologize if I misspelled a dog's name or left some of the friends off my list. There were also some new little (puppy) faces in attendance. Please feel free to join this blog and comment. Our days are getting longer. We are gaining 5-10 minutes of daylight everyday. Spring will be here soon.

Park Conditions

It has been nippy cold but the park has been pretty mud free the past week. Hopefully the warm-up at the end of the week will not cause muddy conditions again. A lot of the regular dogs have been out enjoying the park. There have been several new puppies and 1st timers the past week. It is great to see new doggie and people faces.
